Fi`s New York office is expanding and we are looking for a full-time System Engineer to help us scale the company and maintain our social media community platform, Kontain.
Position Overview:
As the System Engineer your core focus will be running and maintaining Fi`s network and server infrastructure including all peripherals. You will provide full technical support to all employees and help in projects that require any
server side assistance. Your main project focus will be the Kontain platform where you will routinely plan and schedule the deployment of version releases. You will be a key supporting resource for Kontain`s software engineering
team, providing assistance on a variety of server management tasks such as system monitoring and operations as well as server and data management. You should be proactive, take initiatives and be able to work independently
as well as within a team.
Overall IT Responsibilities:
-Order and install new hardware & software while being conscious of costs and budgets
-Knowledge about licensing management and control
-Monitor all servers, applications and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA`s
-Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures
-Manage & troubleshoot networks, intranet & internet connectivity throughout the organization
-Maintain and monitor the company email server including spam and firewall filters
-Provide day-to-day technical support to all Fi employees in New York and Stockholm
Overall Project Responsibilities:
-Support and facilitate the diverse technology needs of the production teams
-Troubleshoot and resolve system-related application defects
-Perform common system administration responsibilities for Fi`s production deployments
-Maintain, monitor and ensure maximal availability of Kontain`s development and production platform
-Support the release management and deployment process of the Kontain platform
-Responsible for the advanced database administration tasks including scripting data migrations
-Knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor`s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Three to five years of experience in a system administrator/engineer role or similar
-Moderate understanding of Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems (Linux experience a must)
-Thorough knowledge of technologies such as Windows server, Exchange, SQL Server, Subversion, Apache, IIS, LAMP, JBoss, Firewall appliances and SSH
-Extensive experience from Unix/Linux system administration tasks
-Knowledge of Perl and Bash script languages
-Moderate skills in MySQL service maintenance and SQL language
-Desire to learn about and implement new technology
-Ability to efficiently work both independently as well as part of the team
-Demonstration of a highly proactive and solution-driven approach to problem solving
-Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) in order to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
Merited Qualifications:
-Experience in the domain of release management
-Experience with Continuous Integration infrastructures such as Hudson or Artifactory
-Experience with maintaining and evolving Linux-based clustered systems
